It doesn't matter where you are in the world - there will be always racial discrimination.
NZ and Aussie are both very multicultural.
Don't worry about such a little thing. People are just immature to make such remarks...

AS the other person has pointed out, there will always be the small minded people around, but we are pretty mulitcultural now and have quite a mix of people here.....as a result you should see that MOST people will treat you well.
