i mean christian dogma is almost impossible to follow, "love thy enemy, put the other cheek, love god before yourself..." this things go against an instinct on all human beings: no one loves his enemy (almost impossible, think of a person who wants to kill you, it is impossible that you love him, no one puts the other cheek (when someone hurts you, you can´t help but hating the person), love god before yourself (it is impossible for anyone to love anything (and most a something you cannot feel (see, hear or touch)) before oneself: it is called instict of survival and we all have it.

"With God, all things are possible." I just finished reading a book called "Jesus Freaks" that was written in the late 1990's and is about martyrs that gave their lives up for their faith in Jesus. Many of them tell how they prayed while being tortured and even while being burned at the stake. God gave them love for the people doing this to them. Some of the martyrs even witnessed to their torturers and these people were saved because of it.
When one becomes "born again" and gives their life to Christ, they desire to do what Jesus wants them to do. If it seems too difficult, pray about it and God will give you the strength you need. Just be careful and make sure that what you are being asked to do is from God and not from man. Many organized religions have believers do things just for the sake of doing them and not for any specific purpose.
As far as not being able to love something you cannot see, I cannot see my parents (both are deceased) and I still love them. You may not love the wind but we are not able to see it, either. Yet we know it exhists because we see the evidence in the trees.
To sum this all up, if one really wants to follow God, it is not impossible. The impossible thing is to go through life and not at some point acknowledge that there is a higher power that created everything that we should be grateful to and love for giving us life.

You are quite wrong. A lot of Christians live by the book, especially missionaries.
When Jesus told us to love our enemy, he meant as a fellow human being, not as an individual person. I might not like you, but I can love you as a part of the human race. You many hate what someone does to you but not the person. We hate the sin, not the sinner.

It is quite easy to put God before your self...Pastors in particular, do it all the time...All Christians try their very best to live like this. The onlyl instinct of survival I have now is to make sure, I make Heaven my home. Nothing else matters. If that means laying down my life for him, I am ready. Because I found out on my knees, one day, that threre is truely a God and that he knows me by name. Who would I run to and where would I go, but to the Lord. Yes, we put him first and it isn't hard to do at all for a true believer.

You've asked the million-dollar question and it explains why Christians fall short of the glory of God. In theory, if you love your enemy, it's impossible for him to hate you. But religious dogma can only be effective in a vacuum. It doesn't take into consideration social conditioning. Or, if it does, our government has found a way to circumvent religious practices that would eliminate negative social conditioning.

For instance-let's take a serial killer. He cannot be loved by anyone because he's been conditioned to murder in attempts to alleviate the pain he's probably suffered as a child. These people have been abused beyond most of our comprehension and they grow up and torture animals (first) and humans later. How can religion teach you how to deal with such an individual? Well at some point, Christianity would have taught us to purge this person from our midst. Or, taught us in such a way that his or her parents would've raised him in a loving way, and not tortured or allowed him to be tortured.

Religion is ineffective in this society. It's used as a tool to control and will never be whatever it was meant to be as long as their are governing bodies that put themselves before the word of God.

I'm not sure it's IMPOSSIBLE, but I'll allow you that...

Many of our rules "go against instinct," you know. The rules exist so that we can have a civilization, a culture, a society. It's just that some religions take things a step further and tell you that if you behave very nicely and accept whatever they say, you'll be rewarded. I don't think that's all there is to religion, but it is certainly true that these rules exist for the sake of a social life. A nation that runs on instinct is no nation at all.

Selfishness vs. Selflessness...

Will defiance of what is "natural" really lead us OUT of nature to the supernatural? I'm not so sure...

Seems to me that it's wishful thinking.

You have a valid point. It's extremely hard to do. A dillemma I currently find myself in. But I think loving your enemies and whatnot has more to do with finding peace within yourself. Hating someone else causes you more harm than it ever does your enemies. Put God before yourself is a man-made concept, but I think it just means that when you do, you'll work hard to be the best you that you can be. It brings you closer to God and the closer to God you are, the more peace you will find within yourself. And the more peace you find within yourself the more likely you are to want to spread the feeling, to help others find the same feeling. And therefore, spread peace around the world. Cause that's what God truly wants--peace for all of his children.

The next time someone is angry at you through no fault of your actions try this. Say this to yourself," I smile because God loves ME". I bet that you will not get angry, and you will probably smile. (and you will wonder why you can smile!)

Perhaps more research in a church and with those who know God in a relationship would help your understanding. What you describe is possible and people are capable of acting the way God desires us to live. It takes learning how to respond rather than react out of our emotions. It takes getting closer to God and understanding His desire to help you accomplish these goals. On our own, no, we can not do it but we can do it with the help and leading of God.

it's called sin.
everyone does it. it is not impossible for me to love someone I haven't seen. I love God and I know I do. I make the same mistakes as in atheist but Jesus died for me and anyone who wants to give their life for me is pretty awesome.

Instructions
Before
Leaving
Earth

God is just telling us things we should do we cant accomplish them all and not all at once practice coming closer to God will help you achieve this no one can make unless they have God on their side.
