Sure - you can give it to the lottery, the Federal government, the crack dealer. They will all make better use of the money.
Joking - but your question presumes giving to the church is a waste - so I take issue with that presumption.

There are non-religious, non-denomination charitable institutions where you can give your money. You can also give it to philanthropic or humanitarian projects without letting the "church" do it for you.
We have a small church in our community. The last time I saw this church I think they have 3 brand new cars...I guess God is very good for them from giving him their weekly church tithings.

I give money to charities and groups of my own choosing, rather than have my money build fancy buildings with stained glass windows or pay for people to go overseas to tell other cultures their beliefs are wrong. This makes me very happy. If other people want to spend 10% of their income for religion, good for them, but count me out.

I give to a lot of other things. I try to research it so my money doesn't go to waste cause I could really use it.
