I have been self-employed for nearly a year and I entered back into the corporate field (part-time) for the past month. Found out: I HATE IT.

Well, Scott I did it for two reasons: To help pay off Uncle Sam and to help a friend. But I quickly found out that people in "corporate" love to pass on a lot of work, still wear uptight clothes and don't like to climb stairs. My butt is perfectly up and round delivering work to others. Paperless company, it is not.

I LOVE BEING SELF EMPLOYED

Addendum

I take great offense to redvelvetflame's generalization of self-employed white men that work their butts off to build corporations that provide jobs to over 80% of the employed in this country

I rather be self employed unless I make 30 million dollars a year as a CEO of Fortune 500 company

Charolette B,
the truth be known is everyone is 'self employed'
u at a corporate job actually sub contract ur self at a lower rate for urself because u don't want the paper hassles.
u at 'self employed' accept the risks and rewards.

I prefer a corporate job, but it has to be with a small company. My job still provides me a lot of autonomy, and I receive a regular paycheck with low risk. Large companies, however, drive me crazy with too much bureaucracy and red tape. A small company can't survive like that.

I like having a job because I don't like selling myself. With a job I can quit or take a sick day and get paid vacations and paid medical insurance even profit sharing. I thought about starting my own CPA firm once got all set up and took a job instead I just didn't want to do it.

I'd rather be self employed...I love working at home with my kids....I have the flexibility to work my own hours, meet my own goals while meeting my financial obligations.
