I am 12 and I wear contacts. I also have a 12 year old friend and an 8 year old friend and they both wear contacts too. We all wear soft contacts. My 12 year old friend and I both use complete moisture plus. My 8 year old friend uses renu and opti free. Would you recommend these brands for children or are there any special solutions for kids?

Use the solution recommended by your contact lens fitter, there is no special solution for children.

Complete Moisture Plus has been recalled world wide. Ask your parents to contact your contact lens fitter for advice on what new solution to use and what to do with your current solution.

The previous response was correct in that contact solution is not dictated by your age but by what kind of contacts you have. If you want the best out of Opti Free, Complete Moisture, or Renu, I would definitely recommend Opti Free. Both Renu and Complete have been recalled in the last couple of months due to an eye infection breakout connected with the use of these brands. Plus, I work at an optometry office, and all we recommend now is Opti Free.

Wow--we have a lot in common. I'm 12 also and I wear soft Acuvue two-week-term contacts. I use ReNu, but I once used Complete Moisture Plus. I would use Complete Moisture Plus, though, because it fizzes less when you put it in your contact case. Not a big difference, though---nothing to stress about.

opti-free is made as an all purpose solution meaning you can clean and store your contacts in it and it will not hurt your eyes. Some brands do not do this and you have to be carefull to buy a brand to clean your contacts and a brand to store it in. In my opinion I would use opti free because it is less harsh for your eyes and contacts and it is a multi purpose solution. Good for kids!!!

Contact Lens Solution is not based on your age. The solutions are geared by what type of contact lens that you have. Certain contact lens, can only use certain types of solutions. If you mix the wrong kinds of solutions , with the wrong contact lens it will burn your eyes. Your lens will feel like you have dirt and grit in them. Your eye doctor or their assistant will be able to tell you which solution(s) that our best for your type of contact lens.
