Sounds like sciatica. The sciatic nerve extends from the spine, down through the pelvis, down the back of the thigh, and twists aroundto the side it the lower leg, and into the foot.
It supplies nearly all the sensation to the skin of the entire leg;
and to muscles of buttock, back ot thigh, and most of lower leg and foot.
See a doctor - ask for a referral to a physical therapist or chiropractor.
Meanwhile - rest on your back, with knees bent. [ or, rest briefly on side with pillows between knees. ]
Take ibuprofen or aspirin.
Use an ice pack on your lower back for 20 minutes, four times a day.
Don't lift anything over 5 pounds - no kids, no groceries, etc.

You could have a pinched sciatica nerve but it would be best to let a physician diagnose and treat. Good luck, they hurt and I have had experience with that.
