How can I get the $255 for my dads death, from social security?

Well, you file on behalf of your dad, but his ESTATE gets the check, so his EXECUTOR would have to apply it against his debts or final expenses, then it would be distributed according to the will or the judge.

look up the social security administration and give them a call..you should try to have his social security number on hand if possible.

call soc sec and they will help you out w/ death benefit. they have a checklist they can give you to beging to close his/her accounts / get money out of banks accounts/safety deposit boxes which may or may not contain other investments and a last will and testament. good luck

1. look for insurance statement and policy
2. inform the insurance company and file for a claim
3. insurer will provide you a checklist to follow
