A fisherman could get away with a bigger lie if he fishes at night. No one sees him. As far as fishing night, however, it's better for striped bass fishing.

Yes, especially with net fishing.
In the day the fishes just wander around because there is light everywhere.
In the night the only source of light is you lamp, so the fishes gather to the light source. As much as the fishes gathered aroung your boat that is as much the fishes you can catch with the net.
The moon has also a factor, when its new moon or full moon.
There is a difference in the catch when it full moon and new moon. In full there is much light for other fishes to see, so you get lesser fish in full moon than in new moon.
But if you are going surf fishing or using a fishing rod. It is better in the day, so the fish can see your bait.

I can say that for certain species yes it is much better at night! I am not saying this because they feed at night better but allow you to fish for them easier!
Snook fishing at night is so fun just look for any over head lighted area's and fish the shadow lines for them.
Tarpon fishing without the 20 other boats sitting outside the inlet crossing lines, lol!
Flouder fishing with a bull minnow near grass or flats can be a boon time for them.
Oh and the shark fishing!
But truely when the tidal flows are the best I hit the water whatever time of day it may be.I just think fishing at night can give you some ease in fishing for different fish! This may not make it better but sure makes it fun, good luck!

I depends what you want to catch. The sharks come out at night, and sometimes there's great influxes of fish at night, for mating or other reasons, if you're there at the right time. In San Francisco, netting crabs and catching rock fish from Pier 41 is much better at night.
