When and why did Apple start using the letter 'i' in many of their product names? (for example, iPod, iPhone). Thanks..

the "i" stands for internet.. but more than that it's a marketing ploy.. or well, tactic. the consumer attributes "i" with apple, and apple with quality merchandise.. therefore anything with "i" sells well. by flooding the market with "i" products they've all but garunteed that people will flock to the next "i" gadget without a second thought just because its from apple. it's almost like self validation-- a seal of credibility that comes not from the product itself but from the brand.
