Nightcrawlers! for Bass and Trout, they both like them really well, but when you fish with the nightcrawlers for trout, pinch about a half inch section off it, and put the rest of it back in the can!
Little red worms work really well for trout to!

For Bass, Just use the whole nightcrawler at once, you'll hook into a lunker in no time!

Point of advice - when fishing in streams for trout, always use caution when walking the creek bank, with the sun to your back, your shadow will spook the trout, always cast well above the fish you key in on, and wear forest green colored shirts, or just simple camouflage!

Good luck!

On the Brule river in Northern Wisconsin just off hwy 2 on the South side. We've fished there for years until they opened it to "tubing" we'd put a crawler on a number ten hook, right on the end then tie on a piece of red yarn, very small and trim it. Throw it upstream and let it drift down in the current until it settles, you'll get a hit everytime.
We've caught ten and twelve pound 'Bows and Brownies this way.
