Do you not understand that by being so strong in your approach to bringing people to Christ that you are actually pushing them away from Christ? When you do things such as jam things like the threat of hell do you not realize that you push people away from Christ?

Amen. I know when to keep my mouth shut and when to approach someone who I can tell is really seeking. Now, I will always offer my beliefs and I cannot keep my mouth shut when someone is putting me down!! I believe in equal respect. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

What do you call a strong approach? Any approach done in the Spirit and in Love is acceptable.

While I agree that fleshly and young Christians can often push people away from Christ, I make God real big. I take the fear out of the game and believe He is bigger than even His children's mistakes.

Also, some people need to hear a strong gospel and consequence to sin. The last time I read the "red letters" in my Bible they were pretty strong.

Good point. I guess they're just so strong in their convictions that they may not realize or consider the beliefs of others when speaking passionately to them. I don't think they realize that on cannot merely drop everything he or she believes and begin practicing an unfamiliar thing, all while being threatened that one will suffer for eternity if one doesn't convert. I'd say it's insulting, and a major turn off. I'd rather willfully accept it than be coerced into believing it.

Personally, I use a bold approach, but try to avoid being overbearing. What's the difference? Being bold involves using the Holy Ghost as your guide. Overbearance involves using your own way instead. Guess which one is more effective in teaching the nations the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Council of Nicea, 325 A.D. The threat of Hell doesn't phase me in the least. Hell is based on a place called "Gehenna", and is not real. Knowing history has a lot more to do with me not being a Christian than what anybody thinks. In 325 A.D. the Council of Nicea is where it was finally decided that Jesus actually was God. Before that he was honored as a prophet, but never as a God. That is why I am not a Christian. If Jesus was real (this is debatable) then he set a great example by sacrificing himself for his people, but the resurrection story just doesn't ring true, and is "borrowed" from another religion, along with many other characteristics of the "Jesus story".

I hear you sister, but please understand ...

Sharing the love if Jesus is a great joy for me, but sometimes you just gotta shake people out of their ignorance and their indifference. There are some people in my life I love so much I'm willing to tell them they'll spend eternity in the lake of fire because of their refusal to listen to God's word. And I'll admit, sometimes I do it out of shear frustration because all else has failed. I cannot give up because I want them there in heaven with me.

But let me also say you can be strong and loving at the same time. And it's a delicate balancing act.

many Forget to be as gentle as a dove. We alsao have become to much of the world and not merely in it. We let our baser selves take over. by not focussing on what is important. That our battle is not with flesh and blood but in the spiritual world. It is also still difficult to take mockery and derision. Others are just so excited they get carried away.

I think you make an excellent point. I've never pushed my faith on anyone. However, when anyone asks ( and they do with surprising regularity) I tell them. What gets me is the infighting among the denominations. I've gotten thumbs down just for saying what church I go to.

well, i put a lot of evangelical stuff here on Y/A and it does not bother me, because who knows and somebody find Christ in this site!1

of course if you're one of those who tell people that they're are going to hell if they do not follow God! well i don't considered those people mature enough to evangelize!

but it's necessary to spread the Gospel in a intelligent way!

Self-righteousness? Not very good at the concept of planting seeds?
Your chastisement only makes you seem the same, I don't cram the threat of hell down anyone's throat.
Are you not attempting to set yourself up as judge of other Christians? Shouldn't such things be left for God to judge?
God sends many messengers, one that may not appeal to you might appeal to someone else.
