You can't go wrong with any of the things you mentioned, but when I'd visit my grandma as a child, we'd take the salt shaker right out into the tomato patch in the hottest part of the day. We didn't even bother with a knife, just bit into them like plums when they were still warm--almost hot--from the sun, sprinkling with a little salt as we went, getting our faces all messy with juice. My grandma no longer has her house with the tomato patch, but that's a childhood memory that I'll never lose, and all it took was some warm red ripe tomatoes and a little bit of salt.

my mom picks the tomatoes and then makes a tomato & onion salad with oil, vinegar, and salt all mixed together, it's DELICIOUS. i love it, and not to mention the tomatoes taste awesome! =] â¥
