My heart goes out to you, Mike. People don't understand that there's anxiety, bad anxiety, and what you're going through. You probably feel like you're had the ground pulled out from under you.
First thing: Don't make it worse. Do not resort to street drugs or alcohol. What you have is a recognized disorder that can be cured.
Find a mental health professional who specializes in anxiety and panic attacks. There are other drugs that may be taken in combination with anti-depressants. Discuss that possibility with a psychiatrist.
Whatever you do, Mike, don't give up.

You need to be open and honest about the severity of your anxiety/depression with your Family and Physicians. It took many med combinations before finding what worked for me. I take Zoloft and Wellbutrin and I've been in therapy for 2 years. It's a long slow process but with the right meds and right therapist it's controllable. You've been through a lot at a young age. Your strong and you have the will to change things. Know that panic attacks are your body's way of protecting itself. Don't allow the negative thoughts. Breath deeply and distract yourself. E-mail me if you want to get into details.... I wish you the best. sjlucas70@yahoo.com

Try your darnedest to read books by Gary Null, PH D scientist. Also, he has a radio show on NY 91.5 FM daily at 12 noon-1 PM. Go onto his website too.
He has been strongly against the medications you are taking, and has had many colleague scientists who have done excellent research presented on his shows who feel the same as he does. His thought is that quite often, those meds can really hurt teenagers. Each case is different, however.
That being said, he has a lot of nutritional expertise to combat your symptoms.
Perhaps, you could even make an appointment to see him.
Then there are websites by Dr. Mercola, Rima Laibow, MD, and Dr. Stengler who also agree with Gary Null. Null has written so many books, and is an expert in how the body works from a holisuitc and natral viewpoint of healing.
Best of lukc to you.

You poor thing! You’ve had such a rough time, but please remember these horrible feelings won’t last forever. Here are some foolproof ways of getting rid of panic attacks and anxiety. (It is always in your power to stop your panic attacks!)
1. Breathing properly will control your panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot, lot better. Once you start practising, it’ll become second nature.
2. Also I would really advise a course of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks. It takes a bit of work, but if you put the effort in it’s super effective. You can speak to your doctor about doing a course, or you can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear...
3. I also suggest relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource...
If you find all this overwhelming, speak to your Mum and ask her to help sift the information. Please hang onto the fact that you will feel better sooner than you think.
I hope you start feeling better soon. The best of luck to you.

Hey there, I am in Southern Cali to, and I am a college student with depression and anxiety. If I am not experiencing one, I am dealing with the other its terrible. Here are some ideas for you. Your college should have some kind of health care there available. Talk to your schools counselor and she can give you references. Its her job to know how low income students can get taken care of. Anxiety is very common in students. You can go to the county health clinic. Did you know Walmart offers prescriptions for just 4 dollars a month? I get my prozac 20 mg there for that price. Walmart has an online listing of what is offered for $4 for a month supply, look that up. Best of luck, you will get through this.

I'm very sorry you lost your friend. I'm also sorry that your life isn't where you want it to be. Neither is mine but you're so young! I've lived a bit longer than you have. All I can say is ask your doctor for a different medication. Maybe Welbutrin? It didn't work for me but maybe it will for you.

I know how you feel kido. I was that way when I was a teenager also. Only now it has affected my whole adult life. You need to confide in somone. Antidepressants did not help me either. The only kind of medication that finally helped was a mood stabilizer. I was finally after many years diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. Please no suicide thoughts. If you want to email me about this feel free..

Get on your knees and PRAY!! Ask GOD to help you overcome these attacks. I know exactly what you are going through. I started having these attacks at the age of 35. I did not know what hit me!! I was pregnant for the 3rd time and the slightest noise made me jump. Riding on the "L" (train in Chicago) almost caused me to die from fear!! I am currently taking medication, however, I have changed my diet from lots of caffeine and sugar, to sugar free. Exercise also helps because it lowers your blood pressure and that helps me.
You may need to continue to need medication, however, you will be able to handle it.
