The AC fans work on my 1998 Jimmy, and it has climate control, but it doesn't work because it always blows hot air. Could it be a problem with the heater valve? It doesn't seem to be a relay problem, the belt is good, everything looks good. Why no cold air?

You say the fan works but you don't state that the compressor is running. Is the compressor clutch engaging with the pipes associated with the AC going into the cab of the truck getting cold? If the compressor is engaging and you can feel the pipes getting cold, you have a problem with the temp. valve actuator or the control head not being able to drive the valve to where you are asking it to go. There also could be something jammed inside the door area preventing it from moving. If the compressor is engaging and the pipes are not getting cold or the compressor is not engaging at all, you most likely have no or low level of refrigerant inside the system indicating a leak. If you have an actual refrigerant problem, you won't be able to do it yourself as you will need some special equipment to find the leak, repair it, and rechage the system. If it is a control problem you can dis-assemble to find what's wrong. Good luck.

the first thing is did you have somebody put A/C gauges on it to check for leaks or if it has enough freon, second does the clutch on the front of the compressor turn all the time when the engine is running or does it come on and off,

No or low freon. Go to autozone.com under tech support.
