The sin that engulfs the world is like a blanket. The prayers of the faithful (especially where two or more are gathered in His name) are like beams that are capable of breaking through that barrier. They have a power of their own, like incense, and are a sweet smelling balm in the Lord's presence.
Prayers are power.
Prayers are also our communion with Him. They strengthen our faith and solidify our relationship. If there is one thing I've learnt, when my prayer life wanes, so does my witness. When my prayer life is strong, I see God work and man - it blows me away!

Jesus Died for our sins, there is a difference. He suffered and died so that we may be forgiven and have a chance of repenting and going to heaven. No one shall see God unless they go through the lamb that was slain. Jesus is the Lamb. If you do not understand this every christian church in the World will offer you an opportunity to learn the correct way and the truth. If you do not like that Idea why not purchase or rent the Bible Books on tape. If you have difficulty with this there are some wonderful movies that will take you through a brief synopsis of the life and death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I hope you found this helpful?
Good Bless you and keep and give you peace and the ability to understand and follow him.

1. We are still able to sin 2. We must have faith in an invisible God 3. We are weak 4. We still have Satan to deal with daily 5. We close our eyes in prayer so that everything around us can disappear and we only see dark, which helps us to focus 6. Prayer does not bring God down to us, He is already here; but prayer brings us up to God 5. Prayer is the breath of the soul. 7. Devotions is like water poured daily for the growth of a plant. Without it, the plant withers and dies---without it our Spiritual life and the reality of a relationship with an invisible being becomes non-existent.

Yes, Jesus has already paid for our sins, but because we are human and our flesh sometime likes to get in the way, we need to repent often and that is where prayer comes in... There are times when we need an answer to a problem and only the Lord can give us that answer, that is when prayer comes in....and more importantly prayer is our time to talk with the Lord and commune with him.... it is a great privilege to be able to prayer directly to our Lord.

Jesus payed for our sins, yes. This gives us a chance to have eternity with Him.
Prayer is our insurance policy, our direct connection with heaven.
Jesus lived in prayer. Read any of the four gospels and it is mentioned in just about every chapter. For us, it is a supply of life from heaven.
Jesus Himself said:
Watch and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation:
(Matthew 26:41)

Jesus only paid the price for people who ACCEPT IT. And if you accept it you will do your best to please him and to NOT sin. You must confess your sins and also you MUST forgive. The Bible says that if you don't forgive others God will not forgive you. So it dosen't matter how much you pray if you don't forgive. YOU MUST FORGIVE OTHER AND YOU MUST FORGIVE YOURSELF! Although God is a loving and forgiving it dosen't mean that you can just do what ever you want. If he is full of good, than he must be full of justice. If he is righteous than he must administer justice and punish evil. PEOPLE SEEM TO FORGET, THAT GOD IS A PERSON AND HE HAS FEELINGS and emotions. He created our feelings and we are made in His image. The purpose of prayer is to establish and cultivate a relationship with the Almighty.

Hay, great question and I feel honored telling you about prayer.. Many think that prayer is a time to ask God for things. Prayer is just the opposite. It's a time to conform ourselves to His will for our lives. As we do this He brings us closer to Him. As we grow closer to Him we see our place before Him and recognize all the good He puts in our lives. We understand more fully what He has done to secure our salvation. Which should bring us again to prayer... Jim

Jesus paid the debt for sin. Each person has to choose to accept the debt for their sin is paid (R&S shows not all want to be forgiven of their sin, many want to hold on to their sin tightly).
Christians can pray and effect the world.Pray the Jesus will send laborers into the world.Pray for the sick.Pray for leaders.
He wants to hear your needs and concerns.

prayer is just a conversation with God, it's not necessarily to fix all of your sins. Have you seen "fiddler on the roof"? I wish that I could talk to God like Tevye does. And that's what prayer is.
