In this question (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070702164448AAhz1rU&r=w),
I asked "Why do people assume that a woman who has had abortion regrets it?"

Someone responded that she'd never met a women who didn't.

My question is: do you think the reason few people have met a woman who didn't regret her abortion is because women who have abortions fear the reactions they will get? For instance, in this question, many people strongly believe that abortion is murder, and some said that they would call a woman a murderer to her face. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkYPejAsRGr1CU6OphPyQCPsy6IX?qid=20070702152211AAk7KVe

So, maybe because of the very harsh reaction by those who oppose abortion, women don't speak out about how abortion helped their lives? Maybe?

Just a thought.

There are most definitely women who do not regret their abortions (as one of the previous answers mentioned I'mNotSorry.net). And there are probably a combination of several reasons why we don't here from them a lot. For starters there is of course the backlash. There are plenty of people out there who would flat out call you a murderer, and even the people who are against it but not that extreme would probably reprimand you for at least not feeling regret for what you did.

I have had an abortion, and I feel regret in the sense that I regret ever getting into that situation where I had to make such a difficult decision. And yes, sometimes I'm sad about what happened. But I would not change my decision and it did help my life. I wasn't ready to have a child and now I can continue to grow and learn and someday when I am ready to give a child everything it deserves I will bring one into the world. And the only person I really talk to about the whole ordeal and how I truely feel is the father because he is dealing with it too.

Just look at some of the answers you got to this question stating things like...how can murder help someone's life. And for those who say abortion is never right because god says a fetus is a child...you are simply proving exactly why choice should be allowed. Your answer to why abortion is wrong has to do with religious beliefs and last I checked we have freedom of religion. Stop trying to push your beliefs onto other people. If you think abortion is wrong, don't have one.

yep, you hit the nail on the head, abortion is still quite the subject where all those who are righteous get to call the person who terminated the pregnancy a murderer!!! Hope that they can look Christ in the face when they die and try to defend their ugly actions.........a sin is a sin, no matter what the sin, there is no degree so back off all you so called righteous people out there, because last I checked only Christ could walk on water - although many of you would like to proclaim you can...
and yes, I did terminate a pregnancy at 17, and I do regret it, everyday and I don't need these self-righteous people pointing fingers, I do it everyday--but what's best, is that God forgave me even though the self-righteous don't.........

Well, I'm sure that there are some who think that abortion has helped their lives, but people make lots of mistakes and refuse to recognize their errors. And it is still true that many mothers (and fathers) regret their abortions. Abortion is not the cure-all that is advertised. Abortion doesn't make one un-pregnant, it makes one the parent of a dead baby. Fortunately, there is hope and healing after abortion. Check out http://silentnomoreawareness.org.

The 4 women who I know personally regret what they felt was the only option they had at the time.

So I can only speak for these women.....and they have no reason to "fear my reaction"......because they know I'd love and respect them regardless.

The issue here is not whether the woman who aborts her baby has guilt feelings or not. The real issue is whether it is wrong to have an abortion.

Human life must be respected and absolutely protected from the first moment of conception. The rights of the human person (especially the right to live) must be recognized from the first moment of existence. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I consecrated you" (Jer 1:5).

From the first century, the Church has taught the unchangeable truth that every procured abortion is evil. Direct abortion (willed as an end or a means) is gravely contrary to the moral law. "You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish" (Didache). "Life must be protected with utmost care from the first moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes" (Second Vatican Council).

Peace and blessings!

I have had one, and I have had a child. Being British we just don't see it as the big deal it is seen as in the US. I have absolutely no regrets now, nor did I then.

You are so confused. How could abortion help anyone's life? It certainly cannot help a woman's body physically or her mental state of mind. Helped their lives so they could continue seeking pleasure or their career or a certain guy. How does this help their lives?

Sure, it's possible. I'm sure many women regret it. But I'm also sure that many don't.

People who choose to follow the ways of the world and not God, do not regret rejecting Him until it is too late.
