I already have Teddy, a 12 pound, male, neutered rat terrier that is 6 years old. We sadly lost our boxer a few weeks ago. We've always loved IGs but had two dogs, and wanted to keep it at that number. We would also like to have a playmate for Teddy. Does anyone have one of these? Any advice?

They are sweet little dogs. However, they are very fragile. Their little legs break very easily. They are one of the most common breeds we see in surgery for fracture repairs. We have seen so many with broken legs when the dog just jumped out of their owners arms, or even just off the sofa.
I am not trying to discourage you because they are great little dogs and make great pets, but you need to keep the financial potentials in the back of your mind, as with any pet.

I have one Italian Greyhound and I'm also thinking about getting another Iggy.. They are very playful. You have to be consistent with them, and give them positive reinforcement. They will be very tricky. Since there so small, I have a kitty litter box and on the bottom are puppy pads... When it's raining and they don't like to go outside. Always keep sweaters around when it might be a little chilly. They like to snuggle and hide under your blankets, and love chasing birds and basically anything that moves, always keep on leash on him.

I really like IG's they are great dogs. Always active, great personable dogs that love people. They need to be trained as any dog does but they dog well because they are intelligent dogs.

Italian Greyhounds are sweethearts. If you want to research the breed go to http://www.akc.org and search under breeds. Much like whippets and greyhounds they are the dog world's best kept secret.
