I lost an entire picture file of my modeling pictures for the magazine we will be in and I need to find it on the computer. I don't know if it accidently got moved to the recycle bin and got dumped. I have looked and searched and can't find it. I need it back. I guess my question is how do I recover it on the computer? I don't know the file name or anything, just the key words and when searching, that isn't helping! Please help!!!! Thank you in advance

If you have not saved anything new to the hard drive since you lost the pictures and /or have not defragged try a program called "Recuva" It worked for me. This is even if you emptied the recycle bin.

You can also search by a date range if you know the date they were copied into your machine (or even a range)

If you did trash them and then emptied the recycle bin you will have a very very hard time recovering them without pro help.
Did you look in the recycle bin? If not I would. If you have to get recovery software to look because you really did trash then delete them don't expect them to be intact! Once they are deleted the HD space becomes available for other items and may get overwritten with newer data.
Sorry can't tell you much more.. If you still have them on the camera card you can just download them again!

Open My Computer. Open the C: drive.

Click Search on your menu bar.

That will bring up the side bar. Type in the keyword you said you know and cross your fingers. That's if the files are still on there. It won't search the Recycle bin though.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to go out to Google and search for a recovery software. I'm not familiar with any though.

If you know when some of the photos were taken or saved, you can search by file date, or date range. You can also search by file type - jpg probably? Have you already tried all this?

If they have been nuked out of the recycle bin..... well, I think your goose is cooked.

The picture isn't in your picture file? That is normaly where most photos get stored.
