Religions are like multi-story buildings and their foundations are in the form of religious texts. In the case of Christianity, the foundation is of course the bible. Like all buildings, the foundations must be solid and unchanging. For many centuries, the bible was a solid and unchanging foundation for Christianity but in the last couple of centuries with advances in science and technology, the foundation has been proved to be anything but solid and unchanging. Many Christians today instinctively know that to have a 100% literal interpretation of the bible is to be fundamental, which is bad. So that means it should be ‘mission accomplished’ for atheists! The bible is not to be taken literally anymore, Gods inerrant word is not perfect and the bible is a dodgy foundation; why does the building still stand?

#1 your a poopy head.

#2 this is another post thats insists "facts" based on your own opinions.

#3 you can admit the book is not relevant all you want, but God will still be there.

#4 the fact is that the bible was written and its instructions are flawless, while theory's like evolution try and prove the commencement and formation of humankind and science has "advanced" in so many ways, we still live in fear and misery without hope.

Because we literally take the Bible literally. You may not understand the terminologies or the allegory or the parables, but if you read far enough the Holy Spirit will make it all known to you. It is the infallible Word of God. The atheists have accomplished nothing but the rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ and denying God. The building still stands because God said it will stand. You forget that God spoke this world into existence.

You said..."Many Christians today instinctively know that to have a 100% literal interpretation of the bible is to be fundamental, which is bad."

Thats quite an assumption...I doubt very much you have the stats to back that assumption up...but even if you could...your also assuming that Traditional Orthodox Christians share the view that each and ever aspect of God's written revelation (the Bible) as literal and not also at times metaphorical.

I would say that your question is moot, it's a bad assumption, or maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Only for those religions which claim the Bible is perfect, infallible, and inerrant. Some Christian faiths do recognize that errors have crept into the Biblical texts, and their belief in God has not been diminished because of it.

Desiree,

First of all, May God Bless you.

Secondly, you are very mistaken about the accuracy of the Bible. I don't think you have truly done your research, because just the opposite of what you assert is true. The more science and archealogy research the Holy Scriptures, the more they prove the accuracy of the Bible. I would recommend that you read "The Case For Faith" by Lee Strobel. Also, check out carm.org for a lot of evidence for the accuracy of the scriptures. There is more documentation proving the accuracy of the scriptures than for ANY other ancient text--including the writings of Plato and Aristotle. Nobody questions them.

Please, don't take my word for it. Do your research.

Incorrect. There weren't even Christians back then...That was meant specifically for the Jews, and it was applied only to them. Basically, they were told that if a professing Jew committed evil and violated their covenant, it would be punishable by death. Again, it was applied /only/ to Jews. You could not break a covenant you were never in, so it makes no sense to say it applies to others. Also, Jesus fulfilled everything that was required, and now we are no longer under the law spoken of in the old testament. Now, we are told to just turn the other cheek.

The Bible was, technically, assembled and "editted" centuries after Christ. Whether or not Christ knew there would be a Bible? I don't know... but it would appear that the Bible is an assembled book of the writings of his disciples who chronicled his words and actions and miracles. Whether or not you believe the Bible is accurate depends on you. I would keep an eye to the words in red, however. And the feeling in your heart. I was in a position where I had to ask many religious leaders their views on marriage ( I was marrying a previously married man referred to in the Bible as 'committing adultery'. You can imagine how broken I was when I read the scripture three years into the relationship! Simply, what I know is this: the Baptist church seems to widely believe it is the inerrant word of God. Methodist and Luthern churches agreed that the Bible was written by the closest sources to God and Christ, but that there were many references that appear to be culturally relevant regarding laws and occurences mentioned. THe Bible supposedly says to sell your first born into slavery. Does God Himself or Christ agree to that? Apparently no churches seem to uphold this particular rule. The one thing that the stricter denominations of Protestantism is that, simply, you TRULY believe Christ died for you, that you ACCEPT His sacrifice, that He was the Son of God, and that you repent your sins and try to live by the wishes and laws of the Lord as best as you can. We all sin. We cannot NOT sin. It was born into us via Adam and Eve's actions in the garden. But He is a God of love and I feel He understands when we question the tangible reality versus the mysterious writings in the book of His Words and Actions ( through Christ ) 2000+ years ago. The Bible, indeed, was assembled and ruled upon by men, churches, and apparently in sometimes under questionable circumstances when the final chapters were being decided ( hence the Dead Sea Scrolls... scripture from disciples not accepted into the Bible... ). The Word and Spirit are in there to bring us closer to Him, not to scare us away. It gives us a guideline to live in a way that reaps least consequences. The overall messages and witnessing of the disciples, along with quotes from God and Christ, are strong. Some other stories, many of us would be hard pressed to NOT to question... But many of us choose to simply, blindly, faithfully believe in the Bible as the inerrant word of God, and I don't feel that they are crazy if they do! No human has the answers! Only the One that did left us 2007 years ago to join His Father... Even then, often He did not foresee what was ahead of Him, as His life as human progressed..."Father, why hast thou forsaken me?"... The Holy Spirit was sent to indwell believers for the reason of having a connection to God in absence of His and Christ's physical presence which we all feel we need, at times. "Send me a sign..." Many answers are in the Bible. Many more are in the Spirit! When the time feels right, if the Spirit dwells within you, ask the Holy Spirit! That is what the Holy Spirit is there for! It is one of many great gifts from our Lord who loves us ! God Bless!

The true building, fell after the Apostles died..

Jesus talked of the big bang effect, of the temple he said there shall not be one stoned not unturned,

In the end of times he said there would never be such tribulation no not since the creation of the world. The creation never mentioned this Jesus did before modern science..

The Roman Pontiff and the clergy were so highly educated back in the day they never dreamed of modern tech. that's why they wanted to kill Galileo.

Also they are the ones who said the earth is only 5,000 yrs. old because they only counted the dates in the old testament not figuring any to be missing and if you found out they would kill you..

I cannot get into it all its to much..

However we are to the spirit world, which science knows nothing about. and when it shows itself in many books on unbelievable events they discount it.. no money in it you know..

The foundation is christ through the word of God! I not sure
how science disproves God. Being a fundamental christian is not at all "BAD", having absolute faith in Jesus Christ is Bad?

God Bless

The Bible is only not to be taken literally by atheists whose ignorance of all things spiritual has no end, as the kingdom of God has no end. God Himself is the beginning and the end of all things. If you do not believe that, that is your choice, your problem. You prove to me that the Word of God is not infallible. Feel free to e-mail me with your proof. The only mission that is being completed by atheists is the mission of damning themselves.
