My daughter has a 15 speed mountain bike but mainly just rides it on a paved kind of rough road. I put some air in it but wasn't sure how much is enough. Thanks!!!

Check the tire sidewall, as everyone says, it mentions the low and high recomended pressure. I would think that somewhere around 30 to 40 psi would be good for your daughter at the most.

For road and pavement, it's better to go higher psi, but for dirt you can go a bit lower to make it a bit more cushier ride and have the tire deflect better rocks.

For dirt I go around 40 psi and for road about 50-55, but I'm kinda heavy, so those numbers are high.

Practically, I like the method to measure by pressing the tire sideways until they stop being flexible, as Lupita mentioned earlier :) .

The MAX psi will be written on the tryre,
For a road bike it will be 120psi (approx) for a mtn bike it will be 50psi (approx)
The closer you are to the high the less likely you are to puncture, the firmer the ride will be, and faster on the road.
For off road, lower the pressure (higher chance of puncture) but the lower pressure alllows for more tyre contacting with the ground hence better traction

Of course that is assuming you have a pump with a gauge on... if not and you juwt have a hand pump, for on road use with a mtn bike, quit when you get v tired!

It is on the side of the tire usually 40-60 psi for mountain bikes.

The recommended tire pressure should be embossed on the tire's sidewall. Every tire manufacturer is different, so check your particular tire. If you under-inflate, you'll risk getting pinch flats. Most new floor pumps come with a built-in pressure gauge so you know exactly how much air you're putting in.

The max psi should be written on the sidewall of the tire. For your bike it should be between 50 and 60 psi.

i usually put air until i can until squeeze the tire a little...

works because more air will let the bike go faster with the weight of your daughter
