JUST SOME SUGGESTIONS ! Here are some (2) art projects for a 3 year-old.
Pine Cone Bird Feeder
A easy-to-make Pine Cone Bird Feeder. This is a simple project that even young children can help make. (
For each Pine Cone Bird Feeder you will need: A large, open pine cone
Vegetable shortening, lard or suet
Oats or corn meal
Bird seed
A few feet of string
Tie a few feet of string to a pine cone. Cover the pine cone with the mixture below. Roll the pinecone in birdseed and then suspend it from a tree branch outside.
Food mixture: Mix 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, lard or suet with 2 1/2 cups cornmeal or uncooked oats until well blended. Optional: add dried fruit (chopped up), chopped nuts, seeds (especially sunflower and millet), and/or suet, which are high-energy bird foods.
Dancing Lion or Dragon Toy
Make a dancing paper lion or dragon toy for Chinese New Year.
Traditionally, on Chinese New Year, two people wear a huge lion or dragon costume and dance. This toy is a tiny paper version of this traditional puppet.
Supplies:
Colored paper
Scissors
Crayons or markers
Glue, tape
2 wooden barbeque skewers (or 2 straws or disposable chopsticks)
Optional glitter, feathers
Draw the head and tail of a lion or dragon on a piece of paper.
Cut the head and tail out and decorate with bright colors.
Optional: Decorate with glitter and feathers.
Fold a piece of paper in half the long way. Cut along the fold line, making two long rectangles.
Fold each piece of paper up like an accordion. Glue or tape the two pieces together, forming one long piece that will be the animal's body.
Glue or tape one end of the body to the head. Glue or tape the other end of the body to the tail.
Tape one skewer (or straw) to the head and the other skewer (or straw) onto the tail.
You now have a dragon or lion that can dance for Chinese New Year.

Do not worry about it. I think it's totally innocent, even if the family he stayed with did use the word "hiney" it's not that bad. Children pick stuff up all time. You should hear some of the stuff my son says and we can't figure out where he gets it. I would think at this age, he's talkative enough that if something happened to him he would tell you. Think back to Christmas, I don't know about your son, but I couldn't take mine shopping with me. Whether I told him who the gift was for or not, he'd go tell that person what I bought for them. Even if I said it was a secrete. At 3 they just can't keep secretes. If you are concerned, perhaps you should make sure the lines of communication are open between you, child and dad. Make sure that he knows he can use appropriate words to describe his body parts with you; and that nothing is taboo if said politely.

Hi, you've gotten some really, really good ideas. My sitter packs a special bag just for my little girlie. Full of suprises, it's packed with bubbles, stickers, stampers, sidewalk chalk, crayons, watercolor paints, special boks, sunglasses, bug catcher and tons of other little goodies. They have a blast outside riding bikes, playing in the sprinkler or dressing up for pretent play. Throw out some hula hoops with some music for some twirling, spinning fun! She should be set with all the different ideas you've got here! What fun!!

Kids, even at the age of 3, know what they like to do. Maybe have your daughter call the parents and see what this child's favorite thing to do is. That way she can have a good idea to plan what would be fun for the both of them.

Not mcdonald's!!! Make her the belle of the ball. Go to a cheap store (maybe dollar) and let her pick out some crayons, kid scissors, paper, stick glue etc. anything to have fun with to make a collage!! Magazines work great for pictures as well as buttons that have fallen off, string or yarn, foil, anything. Girls tend to have pretty long attention spans with that stuff.

Dress up, coloring, painting, build with blocks, play with dolls. Go out side and ride a bike, have a race, use colored chalk on the driveway (if the parents are ok with it) make shapes and designs. Play music and dance, use scarves to make flowing movements. Sing, read books, make a fort using some chairs, sheets and blankets. Go to a park, throw a ball, paint with water. Use paint brushes and dip them in a bucket of water paint the ground with it. Play candy land or other toddler friendly games. Play with playdough, they can even make it themselves.
