I just got a new 21 speed Electra Townie. On it's maiden ride I fell over and skinned my knee. I brought the bike home, then went out again after bandaging my knee. The chain slipped so now I have to bring it back to the bike store!

Did the fall cause the chain to slip? That happened awfully easy. I'm a little concerned because the whole point of going to a bike store was to get something of higher quality.

Is this normal??

The chain on multi-speed bikes like that are pretty loose and held in place with spring tension from the rear derailleur. You should be able to re-route the chain very easily.

Sounds like the rear wheel is loose.
