They are my brothers and sisters. We don't always get along and some times we even argue and fight, but at the end of the day I would put my life on the line for any one of them regardless of race, color, religion or any other difference we may have, because we all bleed red, and do what we do for the freedoms of our friends and family.

Thank you to all the military members who came before us, from 1775 to today with out you we wouldn't be able to have and enjoy the freedoms we do today, and a special thank you to the Veit Nam Vets. You were just as much hero's as any one before or today!

I respect the soldiers and the sacrifices that they make. I am glad we went to Iraq. I am glad we went there and took out Saddam and his sons who were pure evil.
Okay that is the good and everything that followed has been a disaster. The post-war plan in Iraq has been nothing short of awful.
Having said that keep this in mind. If we werent over there, the terrrorist would step up their efforts here on our soil. They havent yet cause the fight is in Iraq and Afghan. But with their resources and finances they will be here just as soon as the next democratic president is elected. Cause surely the next president will be democratic and will plunge Iraq into a nast genocidal civil war by pullng the troops out before their government is ready. Cause sure as heck Bush isnt going to have a government ready by the time his sorry behind leaves the ofice.

This may surprise people like RiverRat and his alter ego Justus2, but I'm liberal and I love our soldiers and wish them the best. My late brother was liberal AND a decorated Vet.

Disagreeing with current policy does NOT mean hating our men and women who are putting it on the line everyday, contrary to what some would have you believe.

I just wish this current administration cared enough to increase hazardous duty pay for our soldiers as well as the amount they pay to the families of the fallen heroes.

I remember when my unit was coming back from my first deployment in '04. We had a layover in Greenland at like 0230. As we stepped off the plane a Lt General (3 Stars) was standing there to shake our hands. I was amazed to see such a high ranking officer up at that morning just to see us home. When we got back on our way the next stop was in BWI. I almost cried. As we were going into the terminal the VFW was there to greet us. WWII Vets were standing there in their uniforms and shaking our hands telling US thank you. I looked at one gentleman, completely awestruck (afterall, these guys are my heros, true soldiers, real warriors, that the ENTIRE WORLD owes a huge debt of gratitude to) and said "No, sir, thank you."

I am grateful for all of my brothers and sisters in arms. I thank them for the sacrfices they make everyday and know that we couldn't survive without them.

I get thanked a lot for my service and, while I appreciate the gratitude, I feel weird. I've served my country, and continue to do so, but at the same time I know that the guys who really deserve the thanks and gratitude are those guys that sleep with their rifles in dirt holes. Those guys who sweep the streets of Baghdad and never know when the next shot is coming at them, only know it's coming soon. I feel like I'm taking their thanks..... So I thank them.

God Bless the United States and God Bless the United States Military.

They're doing their jobs as best as can be expected in the completely intractable situation they've been pushed into by the lies and distortions of the current Administration.

Bush wants to protect Americans by keeping a steady presence of our (mostly) young people over there, so that ostensibly, the terrorists won't come here (what, swim? use rowboats?) and blow our old, aging azzes up. Sorry, but I'm willing to take my chances of dying rather than putting my son over there with the much greater odds he'd have of being blown up and/or killed.

It's time to start treating terrorism like a natural disaster - it happens, and we move on.

I feel we should support them because they could have said no but instead they decide to fight for our freedom so we can go to the grocery store.Think about it,if they send the troops home them people will follow them right over here and it can be worse than Iraq.

I'd like to see less people with those stupid yellow ribbon bumper stickers and more people actually doing somthing like sending care packages to our fighting soldiers in iraq. Its one thing to say you support the soldiers, but its another to actually go out and show your support.

I think they're doing an impossible job under impossible circumstances, and I have nothing but respect for them. I also think they shouldn't be in Iraq in the first place and I am mad as hell at the man who put them in harm's way and has given them only incompetent leadership from the beginning.
