I just bought a savage 30-06 and the bolt wont go all the way in it gets stopped right before it gets in the chamber by a round piece of plastic and it looks like it can go to the side i just cant get it to do it.

Why did you buy a 30-06? just interested dont see many of them in this country where 308,7mm and 270 seem to be the weapon of choice.

If the gun is brand new, it may have packing material put in places to protect the gun during shipment. I seriously doubt a Savage has plastic parts in the action.

Read the instruction book. Sometimes they tell you to look for particular items before you use the gun.... If that does not work, take it back to the dealer. NEVER proceed with using a gun if something does not work right.

There are no plastic parts in the magazine. Some is stuck in there that doesn't belong. Possibly a slug used for dry firing.

Take it back to the dealer and see what is going on. A new rifle is under warranty.
