I have an issue. I am 16 years old and have a myoptic vision. My right eye is a -5.00 and my left is a -4.50. I went to see my eye doctor today and all he did was measure and look at my eyes without providing any answers on how to improve my vision. Last year I tried vision therapy for about a month but could not make see an improvement in my vision. Since I was 12 or so, My vision has been steadily detiriorating. Is it possible that it will improve later on without corrective surgery? What things can I do to slow down or stop my vision from deteriorating?

juvenile myopia progression.

no, improbable IMO to be able to keep your vision from deteriorating with any eye exercises.

also improbable IMO that it will "improve on its own".

statistically you most likely will continue to get increasingly nearsighted until you reach age 22 or so.

there is some promise in ortho-k for slowing the rate of myopia progression:

The Birds of Prey do indeed have the best eyesight technically speaking. When speaking of the Cats, it is not the eyesight in the ability to see far, or movement.. as in the Birds of Prey, but instead in the Light Gathering Capabilities that sets them apart. I f you noticed, the pupil of the Cat is vertical, which gives it the ability to gather light from the sides as well as above.. ie. the Sun, and also had a Reflective Retina, which concentrates the light that does enter the to a single point. If you have ever had an old 35mm camera and looked into the lens, you would see that there are a series of ridges that reflect all incoming light to the film plane so that there is no " Bounce Back" of the light out of the lens which would cause "Glare". In total darkness, neither the mouse nor the cat can see; however, if there is just the slightest bit of light coming in.. the advantage goes to the Cat! While the mouse relies on it's olfactory sense of smell and the whiskers for feel..the Cat has the light gathering retina and vertical " Cat's Eye" pupil!!

Although you will find various websites claiming to have eye exercises to reverse your myopia, there is no evidence that they work. That is why your eye doctor did not provide answers, there are no methods.

Myopia progresses a little every year as long as you are growing then stops progressing. However, it is not likely to reverse or go away.

There really is nothing you can do to stop your myopia from increasing, it would be like trying to stop your feet from getting bigger. Between age 18 and age 25, your myopia will stop getting worse.
