It depends on the dental student and the location of the school..

When I was in dental school, I had several classmates who were party animals yet they were able to match into very competitive post-grad specialty programs (i.e. their GPAs and NDBE scores were phenomenal). These guys leave me scratching my head wondering how they manage it.

Then I had classmates who have no social life, study their butts off, but were only able to get passable scores.

I'm somewhere in between those two extremes. Had some fun, but I put in my fair share of all-nighters.

Location matters.. Dental schools in big cities like the one at NYU will be much more lively, being in downtown Manhattan where there are plenty of nightspots. Then you got schools out in the boonies where everything closes by 10PM and the town is just dead.

Probably a few other factors too, but those are off the top of my head.

Absolutely! The hard part was getting into dental school. Lots of competition. Once in, sure it is still a lot of work, but there is plenty of time for relationships. My social life improved drastically once I was in dental school. Didn't have time for anything before that, and girls aren't too impressed with a guy just taking sciences. But once you are in, and you can tell them that you are in dental school, well, all of a sudden there is a lot more interest.
Lots of my classmates got married while we were in dental school. Some got divorced shortly thereafter. Some even had kids while we were in school. CRAZY.
But there was a saying among the dental students that says it best. If you haven't had a hygiene student by the time you are in 4th year, there is something seriously wrong with you. I myself had 3 or 4. And a few of the female dental students also.
I was also vice president and then president of our dentistry students association. That was fun planning a lot of the events and stuff that we put on over the year. It was 4 challenging years, but they were filled with a lot of fun, good friends and yes, plenty of time for dating. Good luck to you in your future endeavours.

I havent attended dental school personally, but a friend of mine is currently in dental school. I see her at least once a week or so, so I think she has a decent amount of time on her hands.

It all depends on who you are, who you're dating, and what your priorities are.
