I know the Bible says give your worries to the Lord and I do but today I just kinda let go. I had a friend of mine that I went to school with that died the other day. He was only 37 and he died of cancer of the esophagus. He was a pro golfer and lived life to the fullest. It makes me think of my own life. I'm suffering from an autoimmune disease and so far the doctors haven't figured out what I have. It seems like every day it's getting worse. I'm getting depressed over it. I don't want to make anyone mad, christians of atheist but it really sucks being like this and I thought since I posted in here alot that I could vent in here too. Thank you

I don't tell the clergy at my church because they have told me depression is from the devil and then they will tell me I need deliverance. I know it sounds wacky( I think so too) but that's what they will tell me. I pretty much just keep it to myself.

No, honey, that would make you human. where on earth did you get the idea that we are supposed to be happy, happy, happy all the time? You can grieve, be sad, be depressed, it's all normal. That would be denying part of your humanity.

Dear Flawless, No being depressed is not a sin.
(Proverbs 17:17) . . .A true companion is loving all the time, and is a brother that is born for when there is distress.

In 1988 my wife had some breast problems,Fibrosistic disease, and she opted to have them surgically re-made using Implants.
Every thing was fine for two or three months then she started having auto-immune disorders or disease. this went on for some time then we discovered that she was reacting to the implants. We had them removed in 1990 and after several years she has recovered. I just a man and cannot describe all the diffrent problems, but it sounds like exactly what you are describing. please write if you have questions and I will ask her more specificlly.
Up to 80 percent of today’s women are afflicted with fibrocystic breast disease, reports Dimensions, a Canadian magazine. The disorder thickens milk duct linings and forms painful cysts. However, since 1971 Dr. William Ghent of Queens University in Ontario, in collaboration with Dr. Bernard Eskin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been experimenting with elemental iodine to treat the disease, with a considerable measure of success. Their results showed that of the 315 fibrocystic women treated, 75 percent of the sufferers returned to normal and only 2 percent of the total did not improve. Some relatively minor side effects, however, were noted among a small percentage of the women treated. The good news, according to Dr. Ghent, is that many women would not need this therapy if they included more iodine in their regular diet. Supporting this is the fact that New York City reports twice as much fibrocystic breast disease among women as does Tokyo, where women eat more iodine-rich foods.

Sorry about your friend.

I fought depression for 17 years, it was no joke. I am on the happy pills now. (If those 2 Scientologists who've been trolling here see that they're going to have a field day). It would not be an exaggeration to say that this saved my life.

Seeing a counselor can be a help. Even another doctor. It's got nothing to to with religious beliefs or lack thereof.

Hang in there, and good luck.

Depression is an illness and quite treatable I don't suffer from depression but I do have a non typical form of distonia I have been treated at some of the best clinics in the US but nothing seems to help. But doctors are coming up with new discoveries everyday. I got to believe they will find acure for me that's what keeps me going. That and my families' support. So hang in there and never give up.

My dear friend we would not be much of a christian if we told you this was a sin and by the way we would be judging you. I can absolutely understand where you are coming from. I have had my share of experiences with different types of depression through myself, my son, and several of my family members. We are human beings and this was the soul purpose of Jesus Christ being here upon earth. He knows we would have to go through some really tough times in our journey here. I really think he truly understands we have feelings and emotions that are hard to control; but the good thing is he wants to help us through it by placing strong spiritual faith believing Christians in our lives and to lean on him to get through these times. Using positive self-talk is a tool to help over come depression and the major one is rooting scriptures deep inside your heart so when times are unbearable you have those weapons to use against such attacks of negative feelings and emotions. I will pray for you and hang on to God because he is an on time God and he says he would not put no more upon us than we can bare.

I dont know about it being a sin, and I dont really like to get religious because Im no saint but I do know that the more you think about it, the more you worry over it the more you attract it into your life. i know that sounds vauge and maybe hard to not think about it. I saw this movie, changed my whole way of thinking! Its called the secret. is all about the law of attraction. Helped me learn to control my thoughts, my emotions and attract the things i do want and not the things that i dont want. Below is the like to the site where you can buy it. There was a woman who cured her cancer with it. I really think this could help you!

Our feelings are not bad or good. I know it says to give your worries to the Lord, but it was the Lord who gave you your feelings. Do you really think that an emotion which you cannot control is gonna make God mad at you? Depression is a natural part of grief. Not only are you bothered by a death, but you have lost your good health. That is something to grieve for. It is a very big personal loss. Not knowing what your body is doing is not only an emotion that lends itself to fear, but to grief to as you do not know something you used to know. Make sense? You are used to knowing you are okay. Now you don't have that. Even Jesus' faith slipped a little in the garden before the soldiers came and got him, can you expect yourself to be better than that? Be gentle with yourself. God is. Don't put your judgement ahead of His. He loves you more than you can even hope to love at all. So have faith He understands your feelings, all of them. None of them are bad, they just are. God made them!

Hugs and Blessed Be

Being depressed is not a sin. It is a condition: sometimes a reasonable mental reaction to stress and doubt, sometimes a chemical imbalance of the nervous system. Anyone who tells you otherwise is, in my opinion, either ignorant or lying.

If the depression is really bothering you, talk to your doctor -- there are treatments available that will help you overcome it.

I wish you the best of luck.

I dont see how someone with such a beautiful smile could be depressed all the time but as for it being a sin my guess would be no but I will look it up in my Bible and double check.
Just like I thought, depression isnt even in my concordance.

no...

regardless of your religion your emotions are your own- it is what you DO with them that can be classified in faith...as you know, Christians do not condone suicide.

Feeling sad and overwhelmed is your cross to bear as a human being. I do hope you feel better- depression is a very difficult thing. Please try and seek help- your clergy is always an option, as well as your doctor or a counselor. This is a difficult time to take good care of yourself- but its incredibly important that you do so. Surround yourself with those you love and take good care!

No , you are not sinning nor is any one else who is depressed. I know some preachers and Christians say that, but it is bull crap and they obviously haven't read their Bible thoroughly. David would become severely depressed at times, Job, and many other people in the Bible ! God did not judge any of them for this . Why ,because God understands our human emotions and will meet us on our level. In fact Jesus himself became depressed in the garden of Gethsemane when he prayed" Father take this cup from me" He was overwhelmed by the burden he was carrying. I hope this helps and you will be in my thoughts and prayers : )
