It depends. If you two are adults your families will just have to deal with it! If you two are kids your families just have to deal with it! If you want to limit yourself, fine but don't let someone else limit you. She could be the best person in the world for you and I would hate to see you miss out on what could be a great experience just because other people have a problem with your choices.

I sympathize with the both of you. It is very sad that people still harbor these sentiments and feelings in 2007.I don't know how old you and your girlfriend are. If you are in your majority, then you can see each other with or without their approval. However, if you are minors, then it gets to be a little bit more intense.Explain to your respective parents that you love each other in spite of your color/racial differences and that things are different in your time and generation.Ask for their support and to judge your relationship on factors other than the biased and prejudiced ones.I hope they hear you and respond.Meanwhile, I wish you both all the best and success in your emerging love relationship.

Let me tell you this, if your family is stuck in their ways, changing them will be virtually impossible. You both might just have to take the step out on the ledge and see what would happen. Their love for you might overshadow whatever they think might be "wrong" or "taboo" about the relationship (even tho absolutely nothing is wrong with it, in my opinion). However, if you both want to be together and you both like each other, even if your folks don't like it, do not trade your happiness for it!!! Who knows how happy this person can make you?!!!!

Best wishes to you

Yeah, live the life your life the way you want to, not the way they expect you to. If the two of you are happy that's what counts cause in 20 years probably they will all be pushing daisies..

You can't really change the way they view the two of you dating. The only thing that you can do is show them that the two of you get along just fine regardless of color.
