My brother is 12. He gets sooo mad over the littlest things. He'll run off into his room screaming and cussing and will slam his door shut. He can't take a joke and he gets so defensive over everything. He's freaking me out. What should I do to help him?

Oh yeah, and me & him get into verbal (and a little physical) fights a lot. Mainly bc of his bad temper and he doesn't get it when I'm just teasing him. But other times, we're the best of friends.
And our home life isn't that bad, kinda rough, but we still have it pretty good.
And he's popular in school, so I don't think he's being bullied or anything...

Hang in there...it will pass. Just lay off the teasing for a while. My 16 year old son teases me often and sometimes I have to give him a warning that enough is enough, and that not everything is a joke. Try talking to him like you would an adult for a while. Ask him if he would like to go to the movies with you, or maybe hang out at the mall together or something. Treat him like an equal. Some people just don't like to be teased.

My sister and I had this problem when we were young. I think it's just because he is getting older he just needs some space and some time alone. Give him a little of this and the whole thing should pass.

If you have learned that he doesn't get it when you are teasing, then perhaps you are the problem and not him. After all, why are you teasing him? For his pleasure? I doubt it. My suggestion to you is to be a role model for your younger brother - he will do what he sees.

Leave him alone and give him some space.
He is at that age when things are changing and hair is growing on things.
PUBERTY!!!!!
Give the kid a break, its a scary thing.
