I have taken it 2x.
Four years ago I took it for migraines and depression. It helped my headaches, but, as some antidepressants make you, it made me extremely suicidal and anxious. So I was taken off it immediately.
This year, I took it again and the same thing happened, but I ended up in the hospital for a suicide attempt.
This didn't happen with me, but I know some people get a little 'addicted' or dependant on Zoloft. Good luck and I hope it helps your gf.

I also was reluctant to take it. I ended up taking it as prescribed for several years and was very effective you have to take it as prescribed you will not feel the effects for at least a month they wean you on it increasing the dosage gradually. you will not wake up one day and say oh its working but she will notice after about three weeks that the anxiety/depression will be relieved. It is very dangerous to upbruptly stop and will worsen the condition but you will not feel it for several weeks as it takes that long to completely leave the system.
I did have a few problems with it but were easily remedied by the physician.
1) sometimes I had bouts of insomnia boundless enery is great until bedtime
2)when I started i did feel a little dizzy but once I leveled out my dosage I was fine
3) i had a slight decrease in libido which was more of a problem for my boyfriend You will have to be understanding and work a lil harder at getting in touch with her emotions and appeal to her emotionally insread of lustfully that had a terrible effect on my boy friend and really was a turn off. make sure you know love does not equal sex and let her know you understand that. you want her to be healthy right? if she has a real problem with any of these side effects there are other medicines they can try but Zoloft is the main one with the least side effects that is why it is introduced first

I took 300mg of zoloft a day for six years, and actually it worked quite well, and I suffered no side effects whatever. I recommend it highly. I would just remind her that antidepressants are NOT Happy Pills. All they do is clear the mind so one can think straight instead of the downward spiral that depression causes. She also needs to get into therapy to work out the reasons for the depression in the first place. Pills can only do so much, without the therapy, she isn't likely to get much relief.

This drug is okay I had no side effects but everone is different if she has any worries she should take to the pharmist they will be able to help. Zoloft is a good medication she should not worry.

I took it for two years and it helped my depression tremendously. Once I wasn't stressed and depressed I could concentrate on my job. When I decided to stop, I quit gradually. It was my choice. Zoloft helped me not be depressed, but I was ready to have my emotions again. The feelings came back, the highs and the lows, and I am taking each day as it comes and handling each emotion as it comes. Happy is as happy does!

It's well tolerated. It gave great & quick relief of my depression.
Main side effects I had:
dry mouth-- can be relieved with Oasis (weird artificial saliva) or frequent sipping of water
hard to have orgasms-- can be helped if you have sex right before the next dose is due, so it's lowest in your system.

Gave me dry mouth and made me throw up a lot. Didn't help with the depression, probably due to feeling like crap from the side-effects.
