Ok, Please go to dodgeforum.com and check out some threads in the neon section, most of the people that will answer on here have never owned a neon, this is real owner experience, oh, and I own one as well. People have been trashing neons for years. Really, the only major problems with the neons are the white paint chipping on 95-97, head gaskets (which was resolved in 1998 with the MLS head gasket), and tail light seals leaking, in which are $40 dollars to replace. I personally have a 97 that had no problems until 90,000 when the head gasket blew, it was time for a new timing belt anyways though. By 2000, they had about all the bugs worked out of the neon, and for the price it sounds pretty good. Just check the coolant and oil, and make sure they arent mixed or this could be a head gasket failure. Good Luck!

$1,900 is very cheap for a 00 car. if there is no mechanical issues at all, then it sounds pretty good. How many miles plays a large part too. You do not want a car that you will be putting a lot of money into to fix and keep running. Personally I would go with a Japanese car such as a Honda or Toyota because they are consistantly reliable and easily run for at least 15 years or 250, 000 miles.

My husband is a mechanic and he says that you can not "tune" an A/C, only repair it. A/C repairs can climb to the thousands, depending on the problem. The used car place is just softening the A/C problem just to sell the car. refer to the vehicles NADA value.
neons are good cars but you really shouldn't buy a car that has problems. its only gonna cost you more in the long run. maybe you should just keep looking around for a better vehicle
good luck

Yesterday I noticed a yellow Lamborghini Murcielago. Nothing to overcome it. In smaller and less expensive vehicles, a MINI Cooper S which has a approximate energy output of 148BHP is a well auto.

Has one as a rental when my tracker got hit and had no problems with it, would ask them to fix the A/C might be more than a charge needed. Go to KBB.com and fill in the info to see what the car is actually worth.

Auto buying tip books say get a professional auto technician to check your used car before buying. That way you can keep from getting rent-a-wrecks and lemons. I do not know how you would get the technician to the car or vice versa.
