This might sound silly, but it depends on how often you drink. If you drink all the time, your body becomes better at processing it. (That is, until you get Cirrhosis of the liver, where the scarring is hurting processing.)
The general rule is that an average person can process .01% for each 40 minutes of drinking. For a 200 pound person, that would be about a drink per hour. All US states have a legal limit of .08.
They tell you that one drink is equal to 1¼ oz. of 80-proof liquor, 12 oz. of beer, or 4 oz. of table wine.

Geez, people are ALWAYS asking this question...you know you're going to have to take a breathalyzer test...just don't drink before the test. What, you can't live without alcohol for a day???

1-5oz shot = 1hour
1-8 to 10oz glass of wine = 1hour
1- 12 oz mix drink = 1 hour
if you had one of each within one hour it would take your body 3 hours to break it down.
