I had a credit card with capital one, my limit was $500...i maxed it out..now i owe them like $900....I'm ready to pay them off after 1 year or so... can I still have that credit card open or re-open after payment is received...?

Pay them off close it worst credit card in the world to have. They play and report by different rules and actually do your credit even if in good standing more harm than good

its all up to the lender. Assuming you overcharged your $500 card to over $900 its unlikely they will want you back and overcharging a credit card is very negative on your credit report.

It's up to Capital One, but odds are they won't want to reopen it
