I just don't understand as to why people think he's made up, or some people wrote the bible as a bunch of lies to control you.

I know I don't get it either. He made us and he's the true life.

When I sold life insurance as a younger man, most people balked at the idea. They didn't see any tangent product, and only had ownership in a piece of paper, and that paper wouldn't do anything until they died. People who buy insurance either believe their family or spouse will get money, or not, when they die. At any rate the dead person will never know if they got paid, and all he has done is pay, pay, pay. Hummmm.....you buy insurance if you believe......or have faith that it will take care of your loving family when you are gone.

And so it is, I think, with many people who do not spend the time to read the bible, because they are too busy, they have to go to the beach or golf course, it's boring, it's hard to understand......it's monday.....on and an with excuses. The bible can be a daunting task to understand, because it is layered. (I mean each level of understanding that you reach, allows you to dig deeper, and see that there is still more you didn't realize was there, although you read "that verse" a hundred times before.)

People don't read, because they don't understand. They don't understand because they don't read. It's like the insurance in a way, you can't see God, so maybe he's not there, unless you have faith. And faith come by study, understanding, and knowing that the bible was writen by prophets inspired by the Holy Spirit. Those who take the time to learn, will learn the faith necessary to know God exist. This is why parenting and teaching children early on is important, it gives a foundation that God does exist.

Those who say God is made up, and the bible is a bunch of lies, have never read for understanding, or given God the time of day. Yet when they reach the fear of death, they say "Oh My God"......or "God help me".

It's not that I think God is made up, or that the bible is a bunch of lies, I am quite sure that the bible is a collection of writings from that period of time. For me I find it impossible to consider an almighty power that I can't see, feel or touch that controls my past and future. Logically that makes no sense to me, but i can understand myself as a collection of cells that is a result of millions of years of evolution and that I am responsible for the choices I make in life and the consequences of those choices. To make those things the responsibility of another being makes no sense to me.

Why don't you believe in Allah? Or Zeus? Or Odin? or Cerunnos? Why do you think he's made up, or that some people wrote the Koran or the Book of the Dead or the Eddas as a bunch of lies to control you?

It's all in what you are taught and brought up to believe. A lot of you are much younger than I am, and I have children older than you. And I have found that in today's world, kids have many more questions and question many more things. When I was a kid, life was simple and we all went to church and was taught the word of God. So many in todays society look and the dark, grim, gothic side of life, they question why God would allow this, that, or the other thing to happen. We were always taught not to ask why, but to find the good in all the bad things that we experience. So it isn't necessarily why they don't believe in God, it's more of why is the world the way it is today. And to that, once again, it's all in what we are taught and how we are brought up. No one is born knowing anything.....it is all from teaching.

i think its because you cant hear, see, or smell God. You have to feel Him in your heart. Having doubts is normal though. I am a Christian and sometimes i even find myself doubting God. But I always find myself coming right back to him. If God wasnt real, why would so many people believe in him? I think that deep down, everybody believes in God. Whether they decide to recognize that faith and act upon it is their decision.

I have no problem with atheists or people form other religions. I even have friends who are not Christians. God still loves them, though.

It is just sad that some people completely regard the fact the Jesus Christ died for our sins. But things will all work out in the end. In the end, believers will have eternal life and non-believers will have eternal death.

the word believe means that you are accepting something as true -- usually with the subtext that there is no hard evidence to back the belief -- like in a religion.

without evidence people also choose not to believe.

the day you find proof there is a god you will be an instant kazillionaire. until then people will have to settle for mary on grilled cheese sandwiches.

Because some people refuse to believe in what they don't see. Since the Age of Enlightenment, Skepticism has been the way. Those uneducated Intelligent Design theorists seem so uneducated. Why don't you believe in Thor, Ra, Zeus, or the many other gods that you probably don't believe in.

It's interesting that you feel that you've got a lock on the truth, and that everyone else is stupid. Education replaces cocksure ignorance with thoughtful uncertainty.

If you haven't been too brainwashed as a youth, you may still have sufficient mental capacity to someday understand other people on a level outside religious dogma.

best of luck to you.

religion was created to control people from the very beginning. I don't understand how you can believe in something which provides absolutely no proof except a very old book which has been changed and re-translated so many times.
