I am told that getting an auto loan from a credit union is the best way to go and some even offer you 100% auto financing but how would that work would I have to become a member, do I need perfect credit, do I have to have an account for a long time before I can apply for a loan or what?

No you don't need perfect credit and no you don't have to have an account for a long time. Find a credit union that has the best all around deal and go in and talk to them about joining and about a car loan. My wife and I have membership in several credit unions. We joined the latest one just to get a car loan from them. Good luck.

ps ... you do have to have decent credit history just like anywhere else.

I got my credit union loan through the dealer. Try calling the local dealers and see who works through a credit union. I did have to join as a member, but it only took a $5.00 deposit into a savings account. They had the best APR of anyone around.
