"The Bible says we should respect the laws of our government. "
I neagerly await chapter and vers on that...and dont try the "Give unto ceaser" line...that's not what that meant.

I have no idea who Lou Dobs or Pat Buchanon are, but in relation to your question we all know ' extreme right and left wing' politicians use the same force to maintain support, which is fear or an unquestionable ideology, ie if you don't do it our way then you 'deserve' the suffering/poverty/low career expectations that you get. Its an us or them mentality that is in no way based on any religion i know, and I'm a convent education woman!!
Could some one please tell me which type of Christianity they mean? I thought it was only us Catholics who were not allowed to question or read the bible? But it seems the 'blind faith' reaches far beyond the catholic doctrine.
The bible is a big book - anyone can find any passage they like in it to justify their beliefs, as done so in slavery, Huguenots, gays.... the list is endless.
The free market state, as promoted by right wing politicians, does have its benefits, but for a country to prosper its necessary for all its citizens to prosper and receive a good education and support. Separating families or turning away the needy just leads to anger & isolation which in turn leads to violence and crime. Its a vicious circles that the church in the past tried to break, so to have 'politicians' claim this belief and turn it on its head makes no sense whats so ever!!!

Even if someone is an "illegal" I think everyone from every country has the right to the persuit of happiness. America has oportunities that many countries do not have. If you are an american and you think they are stealing our jobs well unless you want to work fast food or the fields then you might think twice. God Bless our illegals - the people that should be deported are people milking the system that keep having baby after baby to get the free money through AFDC while the childrens unmarried father sells drugs and collects unemployment. They have nicer cars and nicer personal items then us working class do.

Jesus would say obey the law. I am almost as far left as one can be but we must save our country form this invasion that is not only hurting Americans but also these illegals. They split their own family's up when they left them in Mexico. I don't hate anyone but we must preserve our country if we are to help anyone. Illegals weaken our country only helping the top 2% of elietes line their pockets with the money they save off destroying America buy selling it out . It is not a hard concept to grasp. If the U.S. Goverment really wanted to help these people we would teach them how to over throw a courpet goverment that holds them down in their home lands. Destroying our way of life hurts everyone. The effects are not felt over night but your kids will pay the price as will their kids and so on if we dont act now. Make sure your senators know that you will not tolerate amnesty for those who have invaded our nation. Call the capitol hill switchboard and let your voice be heard. The number is: 877-851-6437

Jesus says "Obey the laws of the land"
Sodom and Gomorah was burned to the ground by God, there were children there who were innocent. At least these people arent being burned up for being illegal, there would have been worse done to them in bible times.

Jesus would saith what the bald parrot saith, "Peeple of zee wurl, relax!"
With any ideology, a certain segment of people will hijack it to use for their own need to be self-righteous. Often, it is not the ideology the presents a problem, but rather people too strongly espousing its tenets, regardless of whatever the tenets are.

i say unto you render unto cesear the things which are cesear's and unto God the things which are God's. he then sent Peter to catch a fish which had a coin in its mouth to pay taxes. no we will not burn in hell because we have accepted Jesus's willing sacrifice on the cross and the shedding of Jesus's blood to cover our sins. without blood there is no remission of sin.

I worked for the Social Security Administration during the Clinton regime where the agency administration were all liberal and very racist. They encouraged the employees to turn away "non-American" looking people at the door. No applications were take from some people just 'cause they couldn't speak english. It mattered not that many of these "non-American" looking people were citizens and entitled to benefits.

Jesus would not say "Let those who are breaking the law keep breaking it." The Bible says we should respect the laws of our government.
I'm not going to go get you chapter and verse because it's useless, you only want to get your point across. I will say that Jesus did not advocate violence and never beat anyone.

here: we have to abide my the governments laws.
Romans 13:1-7
Romans 13
Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
so you have to obay the laws... the illegal immigrants are not.

I think Jesus always advocating treating others as you would like to be treated
The Dalai Lama, said different religions are just different ways to love.
But religion has never been about love, always politics and opinions, not what Jesus would have wanted
