Baked potato:
Wash potatos, dry on towels, rub with cooking oil of your choice, place potatoes directly on middle rack of 375* oven for 50-65 minutes.
Check with skewer for doneness.. finished potato should yield little or no resistance when skewered.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Scrub the potato and prick it with a fork to prevent steam from building up and causing the potato to explode in your oven.
Bake for 1 1/2 hours.

I bake them at 450 for at least an hour, longer if they are huge. To prepare them, I just scrub them with a brush and poke holes with a fork all over to release steam.
They stay hot pretty long after you take them out of the oven, so I wouldn't leave them in there once they're done assuming you will be eating them within the next 1/2 hour to 45 minutes or so.

if you poke holes in them with a fork and put them in the microwave for 8 minutes taste just as good and are alot easier and quicker to make. ( do this only for large potatos)
