Check the throttle position sensor (TPS) to make sure it is working. if there is ever any engine knocking, use better gas - knock sensor will retard ignition timing to stop the knock and it can kill performance. Several other sensors could also be involved, the mass airflow sensor, oxygen sensors, etc. You could have a vaccuum leak on the intake system somewhere, your ignition timing could be off, your timing belt could be stretched or slipped. When you replaced the plugs that would have told you if it was running lean or rich if you look at the condition of the plugs.
