Both are dangerous and I personally think drinking should be less socially acceptable than smoking because drinking causes harmful effects much sooner than smoking does and has just as bad longterm effects. Aside from a few people who are allergic to smoke, no one suffers from nicotine immediately but drinking you do. Not a lot of people die from smoking and driving, never heard of anyone ODing from smoking too much in one sitting. And you cant smoke in bars? (In my state anyway) what gives? That dude smoking next to you is a LOT less harmful than the guy next to him who just had 10 shots of JD.

Neither is evil. The only place that good or evil lay is withing a person, it is what comes from within a person out towards the rest of the world that is good or evil.
Alcohol is responsible for killing far more people and far more instantly than smOKing. A drunk gets in his car and slams into a family a six and they are all dead, smoking takes a long time except for fires that get started by cigarettes.
Anything in moderation is ok, excess is harmful.
God created Tobacco and saw that it was good, man makes Alcohol.
I will stand with neither is evil.

I feel that tobacco is the greater evil, but I hate alcohol just as much. Alcohol though is OK in certain portions, while tobacco is not good for your lungs at all.

Probably because tobacco smoke kills others as well as the smoker. whereas alcohol only kills the drinker....(unless the drinker is a psychopath and then kills someone!)
Also tobacco related illnesses cost the NHS alot more than alcohol related ones!
So, from a social point of view Smoking is worse because it encroaches on others.
The demon drink effects only the drinker. (it's the drinker's actions that effect others, not the drink itself!)

Tobacco is worse, but alcohol is fine AS LONG as you dont abuse it. With tobacco you cant control how much chemicals you put in your lungs, because theres no reversing it. Once you smoke, its in your body forever, and can create so many health issues down the road, but alcohol is not good for your liver in large amounts. Thats why Alcohol is socially acceptable because its not a killer unless you over do it.

I think you need to think of it on a broad scale. Both are drugs and both can affect a persons health. But I think that alcohol is the worst of the two because
Its is a socially acceptable drug
Drinking can affect your mind more quickly then, smoking
You can drive smoking but not drinking
Heavy drinking in on session, can put you in hospital
Heavy drinkers can get into, fights and accidents.
So I think that alcohol wins this game of the lesser of two evils

I think alcohol. The number of people killed by drunk driving (especially the innocent people) leads me to believe that alcohol is more socially dangerous. I am not sure why all of a sudden smoking has gotten a bad rap and drinking has not. Maybe the politicians realize that they do not have enough clout to stop people from drinking. Maybe the alcohol industry is too strong and would fight government approbations?

Alcohol. I don't think either one should be acceptable. Socially, as you say, alcohol should be socially acceptable just because it does not get in the air where other people might breath it. As long as the person doesn't get drunk and start acting crazy and offensively, it does not necessarely affect anyone else within the same living area.
