Lots of Moms are worried that raunch culture is pressurising young teens. Should under-16s be allowed to make their own choices about underwear, pierceings or shaving their pubic hair?
At what age is it Ok for young teens to make their own choices?

I think that whatever age a person feels comfortable shaving their pubic hair is fine. If it is uncomfortable for you, then shave it. What's the difference between that and shaving under your arms or your legs? And as for thongs... why not? It's just underwear. Personally I feel more comfortable in a thong. It's a matter of preference for me and has nothing to do with sex.

But tattoos and piercings should wait until 18 at least. Especially with tattoos! Your body is still growing and a tattoo could stretch and warp as you grow. You never know when you will hit a growth spurt. Some people do have growth spurts late in their teenage years.

I think its up to the girl whether or not she should shave her p hair. Just because you shave it doesnt mean you are having sex or that you are messing around. It may just mean that you like a clean look or you dont want to be embarrassed at the beach!!

Yet again maybe the girl likes to just wear sexy thongs! Maybe it makes her feel good/confident? It's all just depends on the girls intentions!

Tatoos and piercings doesn't exactly mean raunchy either. Maybe its the art of it, maybe thats the scene a girl is in? ALL of these things are okay, it just depends on the intentions! I think the mom should just talk to their daughters about it, and from there allow their girls to do what they want.(the p hair thing is a little ridiculous though!)

I'm a fan of 18 years old. I figure if you can fight for your country then you can start making the personal decisions on your own without consulting your parents. I also feel it's on the parents to enforce some of this stuff too. I've known kids who started getting tattoo's and stuff at 15 and 14 with their parents permission, and It hasn't worked out well for them. At least not in my opinion. The personal hygiene stuff (shaving) is a different issue in my eye's all together. I just don't like the Idea of tattoo's an piercings too early.

The problem with dictating ages is that you're always leaving someone out. Some 16-year-olds are more mature than most 20-year-olds. Some still act like they're 12.

That's why we have things like Parental Consent laws. Because no one knows their kid better than the parents, and so the parents can judge is the kid is mature enough.

I was a mature teenager, due to the nature of my life, and I shaved my pubes, wore whatever I wanted, and got my first tattoo with consent at 16. I was also a good student who pursued my talents and made a name for myself.

I still love that tattoo, and don't regret any of the decisions I made. It all depends on the kid.

UMM...no to piercings and definitely tattoos because that's bound to change as they grow older and more mature, I doubt they'll want a butterfly on their butt.
As to shaving, if they want to...that's their choice? Is a mother going to pull her child's pants down every morning to make sure she hasn't shaved? What's the difference if she does or not? I personally don't like hair, the person should be able to shave what they want...
for the underwear, thongs are good for stylish purposes such as no underwear lines, but if she's wearing thongs just to show them off to men and to look "sexy" that's a definite NO. That's just plain gross and no person wants to see some other persons underwear hanging out of their pants.

Tat's and piercings..no. It's a liability issue. At the age of 16 or under, you are unable to make such an informed decision and provide a valid signature authorizing such piercing or tattoing, then the parents can very easily sue the tattoer or piercer and most likely win. As far as the pubic hair and underwear thing, I wouldn't care if my kid did it, just as long as she wasn't SHOWING anyone her lack of pubic hair and her "sexy underwear"

Shaving and underwear under 16 but the other stuff 18yrs. old for sure!!! Some teens make quick decisions, peer- pressures are great, and a lot of these teens are too immature in making these types of "choices".

Under 16, definitely no to tattoos.
If you're under 16 you're too young to put something permanent on your body. or if you really want it bad enough you can wait until you're of age to get it done yourself.
As far as piercings.... with parental consent, because they aren't permanent and can be removed.
And as much as most teens probably hate to admit it, parents usually do know best.

Haha and for whatever the hell else you're talking about, it's up to the kid.
