in between. girly enough to look good in a dress and act like a girl and tomboy enough to hang out with the fellas every once in a while

Like and dislike varies from person to person. But according to my survey boys like girly girls only if they want serious relationship otherwise tomboys, girly girls or whatever they do not care because they have to pass time. They need someone to talk and enjoy.
So, when boys look at girls they have in mind the following: Just for friendship, For serious friendship or Serious relationship.

Some like this, some like that. I'm a tomboy, and I've been in a serious relationship with a guy for a couple years. Other guys like a girl with a little more feminine qualities.
There is someone for everyone, believe me.

TOMBOYS!
Everytime. My wife is a tomboy, and her interest in things outdoors is one of the first things that attracted me. She can also go from haking in the Sierra's, to the theater in San Francisco without batting an eye.
It's easier for a tomboy to dress up, than a girly-girl to dress down.
A tomboy has a nice healthy look.

That is a very person specific question. It all depends on what a particular guy likes. I personally like very girly -girls who are interested in the outdoor activities that I like to participate in. They don't have to play, but showing up is always nice.
