First, never listen to anyone who says ninjutsu is dead, lol. Go find yourself a reputable dojo on www.ninjutsu.com. MANY people out there are frauds. Look for Bujinkan instructors licensed by Masaaki Hatsumi. While it's true that the ninja way of old is no longer, the truth also is that ninjutsu is an art of survival. To survive you must adapt. This is what has happened to ninjutsu. That is why it is still alive today. Gone are the days of having to defend against swordsmen with armor or having to use primitive weapons to defeat armies of warriors. So the ninjutsu of old is now modernized to survive the times. You can still learn "classical" ninjutsu, but not ALL of the past teachings will be taught. :-)

you don't-there arn't any. what you must understand is that a school may teach the art of nunjutsu-but the true ninja way is long gone. the western world never saw it in its true form in any case-as with all closely guarded secrets the japanese only taught what they thought people ought to know-and no more. i now wait for the posters to ridicule what i have said quoting such gentlemen as sensei hatsumi and sensei nawa. while these gentlemen possess great skill and are world authorities on the ninja way-they are not true ninja themselves-and they would be the first to agree with this.

Every year every potential candidate goes to the most reknown yet secretive schools to participate in a tournament of martial skill. Entrants face off with eachother. With only the winners from each school being able to attend. Once you make it, you are then given many tests by the ninjitsu school you attend. If you can pass, you will be accepted and trained.

The initiation entails assasination of your entire family, so you can cut all ties. Then, you have to make it look like you died in the process, so the government thinks you're dead. After that, you go through rigorous training where only 1 in 5 survive. Good luck! Believe it!
