I cannot receive terrestrial TV. I live in a valley and can only get a signal through "Sky". Don't know if this makes a difference to which one I should buy.

panasonic ( dvdr/vcr and has hdmi output =£280 )
toshiba ( dvdr/vcr =£180
toshiiba ( dvdr/vcr/hdd 160g = £299 )
Those would be the ones to consider.

Do not bother with a VCR they are old hat,buy a hard drive recorder no more taps and you can record hours of programs

The best make of DVD RECORDER IS PANASONIC. Expect to pay between £150.00-£350.00. Of course you can buy a cheap DVD recorder(£50.00-£95.00) but be prepared with costly repair's after the first year.

Avoid the Goodmans brand I have had a few things of theirs and they always break down after a year or so!!

They are all good these days. You pay more for a reputable name. Personally I will buy either a Sony or a Panasonic.
