would i have to contact the IRS or would i have to contact my previous employer. i did not file at all in 2005, i missplaced my w2's

please help

Talk to your previous employer first. They should be able to find them much faster than the IRS, since the IRS will be contacting your previous employer on your behalf.

Start with the employer, but if you don't get them there, the IRS can probably provide them to you.

If you owe anything, the IRS will be contacting you about it anyway. If you have a refund coming, you might not hear from them, but if you file you can still get your refund without any penalty for being late.

Call your employer for the year 2005- they are required by law to keep them for every employee (current or not). It's alot easier than having to go through the IRS.
