Started suddenly last week. Horrible pain in my lower left shin. Walking makes it worse, but it's BAD just sitting or lying down. No injury, no bite, no overuse. About 2 inches of the bone is very sore to the touch. I've taken every OTC pain med and soaked it, tried Aspercream, IcyHot......nothing gives me any relief. I just keep hoping it will go away as suddenly as it arrived--it just gets worse. I know, I need to be seen. I'm asking if anyone else has ever had this?
Thanks.

Better not delay medical attention for too long, else treatment becomes harder, like cancer.

Sacrifice all your commitments today/tomorrow. These 24 hrs are crucial. I had a serious leg problem a few years back, walked around with an ankle contoured support for almost 2 weeks, so i know how frustrating the situation can be. Hurry and hope u recover soon!

Is it in the front of the leg on the shin itself? or does it radiate more to the rear or calf of the leg? Is the skin reddened? Or Hard to the touch? Like cellultis? Is your leg swelling up? Or is it painful? Does it get worse if you flex your foot, point your toes upward? That could be the sign of a blood clot.
It could be many things, I would call your Dr and get it checked out. You will probably want x-ray, cat scan, and /or ultrasound to the lower extremity. It could be something as simple as a muscle sprain, a torn ligament, shin splints, a blood clot, bone infection, bone cancer, a blood disorder, etc... Because it can be a lot of different things, or different sources could be involved you will want to get checked out. The chances of it being serious, are probably small, but still nothing to be trifled with.Try elevating it, alternating heat and ice and see if it improves.Try taking tylenol, tylenol is good for bone pain. But, of course don't take anything without talking with your Dr.

I really, really don't want to be pessimistic or sound like I'm overreacting but a my cousin had that happen to him. Then all of a sudden he fell down while walking (because of the pain) and it turned out to be a tumor in his bone, and it was cancer. I hope that it's nothing like that, but I would go to the doctor right away.

Good Luck.

Hey bmac,
Hope the pain has gone away.
Leg pain commonly signifies musculoskeletal (muscle, bones, skin, tissue etc) disorders.
Can also result from more serious vascular(blood vessels) or neurologic(nerves) problems.
Maybe you should see your physician to identify the actual cause if the pain happens to persist. Good luck :)

I hope it goes away quickly too. You know you have to see a medical doctor to find out what this Is. There could be so many different possibilities and you want to make sure it's nothing really serious.

Try to recall back what you have done yesterday. Did you done any heavy activities? It might be your muscle causes the pain.
If tomoro the pain still not reduce, I would advice you scan x-ray.

Go see your doctor. If it is warm to the touch, or even not, you could have a blood clot. Easily treated if caught early, a real buggar if you don't.

Please go to the ER if necessary.

God's blessings,
King
