I just picked up my hamster, Peacey, and his butt seems fine now.

He probably did pee on himself...

I think i should just keep a close eye him right?

Thank you all for your answers! :]

Well... If it's all matted with Diarrhea, then that's wet tail. I reccomend you keep a close eye on your hamster. If it's just wet then he probably peed on himself.

Skuolstuff is right - this hamster needs to go to a vet.

Wet tail requires antibiotics (it is a bacterial infection of the gut, causing diarrhoea) and you can't get antibiotics at pet stores. You can get this stuff called 'dry tai' - don't even bother with it, there's not enough time.

Hamsters can become debilitated quickly from wet tail, so you need to get her treated asap. Worry about compensation from the pet store later - you can show them the receipts.

If you want this little girl to live, take her to a vets. If you just return her to the store she will probably die, as Skuolstuff said. Pet stores are not equipped to treat illnesses, and this really does sound like wet tail.

As Chalice says, take it to the vet for a checkup. Wet tail is treatable with simple antibiotics (NOT the crap the petstore will try to sell you). Then, take a receipt from the vets to the petstore, and demand that they pay it because they sold you an ill animal.

DO NOT take the hamster back for an 'exchange'. That is just wrong. The hamster will have no chance at the petstore.

No. no longer all hamsters die of moist-tail. yet regularly i could say approximately ninety 8% of them do. it particularly is an fairly faital disease, and can be contageous to toher hamsters. So in case you have any others please seperate them now. the only actual anwer is to pass to the vet. yet if you consider which you won't be in a position to then, pass to PETCO or PetSmart or yet another puppy keep and notice in the event that they have Dri-Tail. Your assume to place it of their water. yet regularly while they have moist-tail they end eating and ingesting using fact they're too vulnerable. So till now it gets to that time purchase it immeadiately. it would desire to in all probability save your hamster. yet without going to the vet, there is nearly no probability of it dwelling. despite in case you do pass to the vet, the diagnoses heavily isn't might desire to. And it does no longer be particularly worth your funds to help it any greater.. So persist with those steps. yet, i'm sorry. there is particularly no probability. in case you notice those indications: Diarhea Getting weaker usual Stops ingesting and eating gets Very skinny isn't probable lively(Dpesn't pass in any respect lots) Has a terrible scent Tail is moist and backside via tail is grimy(Diarhea, bedding, blah caught to it) Eyes start to close and is purely too liable to open them provides some squeaks (Faint,, yet loud adequate to pay attention, kinda like how guinea pigs squeak) respiration is going swifter, then slower and slower, and gasps for air Then it is going to provide all it is potential in a single final breath and die So, regrettably that's what is going to take place to your hamster so as. I propose do no longer play inclusive of your hamster while it shows those indications. it would desire to reason greater injury. enable it stay in peace, and have a good relax of it is existence.. it particularly is all i'm able to assert. i'm hoping this enables. Be good..=]

I worked at Pets Mart for a couple of months (Pet Care) and saw this often. Yes, your hamster has wet tail. It seems to be mostly caused by cramped conditions due to stuffing up to 10 hamsters in one tiny little cage and allowing it to fester for a week. I hated working there and especially hated "treating" these hamsters because all we were trained to do is to force feed them pepto bismo (yes, the same stuff we take, but watered down a little) and hope for the best. Usually, it did not work and most of them die of wet tail or get gained up on and eaten alive by the less sick hamsters. It is too expensive for Pets Mart to actually take care of their animals by getting a vet and antibiotics, so if you take your hamster back, the likely hood of her dying in the back of the store where the customers cant see is good. If I were you, take to poor little girl to a vet and get it treated. Pets Marts SUCKS!!

does it stink and seem smeary??? take it back to them it's probably sick, don't get another one from that batch, it spreads. they need to know about this, so they can take care of it, and by the way I have bought 3 hamsters from Petsmart in Falls Church Va and not a problem ever, they quarantine theirs in the back for 11 days to be sure if their is any illness before they put them up for sale, the one i got that did die was 7 months old and they were not at fault, they sell em at 2 months of age. A satisfied Petsmart customer.

If your hamster has wet tail, use black tea. It helps. But bring it to petsmart and see if they can tell you. Also they have meds for that. Juse take your hamster to petsmart, ask and let them check. If so, get meds or use black tea. Hope, it is a false alarm :)
