why are crabs so plentiful on the bering sea?

they used to be scarcer but since they started regulating the fishing down to only 80 boats a season instead of 275 a season the crab is really starting to make a comeback

they thrive in the cold cold waters, have few natural enemies and it has a great source of food for them.
