so it doesnt really make sense to me to have your trash taken away in a recyclable bag... just wondering

I agree. Plastic takes up to 1000 years to break down. but it is easy to manufacture, easy to use and clean. That's all most people look at. If you come up with a better solution, I'll use it and you'll make a fortune.

I doesn't really make any difference, Once the garbage and bags are in the landfill nothing degrades. There isn't enough air for bacteria to live and grow properly so it lays there for years and years till it decomposes... if ever.
Plastic garbage bags make it easier for the consumer as they don't leak and keep a lot of of odor in.

Basically because it's a cheap material that can hold pretty much anything you're going to throw out without ripping or tearing.

By definition, everything is recyclable (except medical waste, I suppose). What's your question again?
