It means does a person act/think as they would be expected to for someone their age, or younger, or older? Maturity varies for different ages so a mature 16 yr old will be far different from a mature 10 yr old or a mature 25 yr old.
Mature people are more responsible than the immature and have more "wisdom" and common sense.

It means a ton of different things. In a mother's perspective its how well you handle the tasks that are given to you. If your room is never clean how can you be expected to take care of things when you're not told to? Or if you stay out past curfew, this just show parents you don't care about the boundaries they set. In a parent's eyes maturity is obedience and your life experiences. Some 16 year olds have some, some don't... it just varies.

I'm also 16 and I think that maturity means that you can take on all the responsibilities that life throws at you. It means that you know when to take things seriously and you can be very responsible for the things that you say and do, thinking about cosequences of actions you might take. I think maturity is also assosciated with wisdom, and as you mature, you become wiser too (^_^). Hope I helped.

Someone that is mature is someone who does the responsible thing in any situation and knows how to live life with a smile and still be responsible. Its not being strict or always being right - but its knowing how to practice and learn how to be a better person. Ask your mom if you fit in that catogory - if you do - your mature in anyones point of veiw.

Being mature in all sense is being able to make decisions for the right reason and not needing some one else to take the responsibility. Also when some one makes a decision they believe is the right one tho it is not, maturity is being compelled to own up to their mistake and not give excuses. It can also be shown with a need to take care of yourself in all aspects of life, not just the parts you enjoy.

Maturity means you have the experience to know that your first impulse is usually wrong, and that you have the patience to hold your tongue or actions until you have decided on a better course of action. In most cases, this means keeping your mouth shut when you are angry or distressed, because you will almost always regret anything you say out of anger.

being mature is when you think of others first and not just your wants and needs. if you still live at home with your parents that means taking responsible and taking care or your own things. making decisions that adults would make and following all the house rules. as long as you depend on someone else to take care of you do what they say. being able to talk open with your parents about everything and getting their help with major decisions.

Generally most people get old and wrinkly and just stop acting immature because they are too busy with work, children, and marital problems. So, it's not as though they became mature, rather it is that they stopped intentionally being immature. Although, there are quite a few old people that are still immature.
