ie the amp only powers my subs with the radio selected, when playing cd's or using the aux input the amp turns off. Any help?

Yeah, you have the "power antenna" wire going to the REM connection on the amp. The antenna wire only has power when the radio is playing.

The REM connection on the amp needs to be connected to the blue/white REM turn on wire.

Ditto on the above, except the remote wire for the amp is typically blue with a white stripe. You probably have it connected to a blue wire now.
